At Goresbrook School we believe that all young people regardless of background and circumstance can be successful learners in excellent schools. We recognise that some young people may require additional support and endeavour to do this in a way that will allow these learners to maximise their progress.
At the heart of our SEND provision is a dedicated team of Learning and Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors led by our SENCO.
Our Learning Support team is fundamental in the delivery of our SEN provision. We believe that most intervention should be delivered in class as much as possible to ensure that children don’t miss out on vital learning. Our Learning Support Team does however, provide some small group and individual interventions that are based around the specific needs of individuals e.g. literacy.
As a mainstream school, we endeavour to meet the needs of all students and welcome applications from students with SEN in the following areas:
- Communication and Interaction (For example: Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech and Language)
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH)
- Sensory and/or physical needs
- Medical needs
Our new building is wheelchair accessible and there are lifts throughout the building allowing access to all floors.
