Let’s talk about ‘The Classics’

Hello everyone,

Some of you might recognise titles such as ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Pride and Prejudice’, ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ etc etc. These are books just like any other, belonging to a variety of genres such as Romance, Adventure, Historical Fiction etc., but what makes them so special is that due to their age and the impact that they have had on literature, they also belong to a category called ‘The Classics’. The classics are nothing to be afraid of or be intimidated by, they are just books, and they are the ones that are mostly available online for free because people LOVE reading them (myself included)

Here is a small list of websites which offer free access to ‘The Classics’. Some of them only allow you to read the books online whereas others also allow you to download them on your device. Feel free to browse these websites and jump into a new adventure by starting one of the books!

List (All of these more or less provide access to the same books but browse through them to see which one is more user-friendly towards you) :

Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Category:Fiction_Bookshelf

The Literature Network: http://www.online-literature.com/

American Literature: https://americanliterature.com/

Many Books: https://manybooks.net/

If you’re not into prose but prefer poetry, feel free to browse these two websites:

Poets: https://poets.org/

Poetry Foundation: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/

Libby: The app you need to read at home!

Hello everyone!

Were you aware that you might be able to access all the ebooks and audiobooks of your local library through an app?

Libby is an app which you can use if you are a member of a local library but can’t access it now because of lockdown!

All you have to do is go to ‘App Store’ or ‘Google Play’ on your phone or tablet and search for ‘Libby’! Then you can download the app and use your library card number to log in and access the ebooks and audiobooks available!

If you have a problem logging in you are more than welcome to contact your local library through a phone call or e-mail for help.
