In line with national guidance we are currently reviewing our new Pupil Premium Strategy for the next 3 years (2025/26 - 2028/29).
The Pupil Premium is an additional source of funding provided to schools to support the raising of achievement for deprived children, a group recognised nationally as vulnerable to underperformance at school. The funding is calculated by measuring the number of students receiving Free School Meals (FSM) in the last 6 years (‘Ever 6’).
At Goresbrook, we believe that the development of an effective pupil premium strategy should be cyclical and considered an integral part of existing school development planning. In line with guidance from the EEF, our Pupil Premium Strategy will be sustained over a three-year period, including ongoing monitoring and evaluation in an annual cycle. Our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement aims to be ambitious, targeting evidence-based interventions to support teaching, targeted academic support and a range of wider strategies. Our policy is based on evidence: assessment and research from the EEF of what makes a strong impact.
The research to date suggests that schools can make a significant difference to the achievement of these pupils. As a new school, there are exciting opportunities for us to maximise this funding for these pupils. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils make good progress regardless of their starting point and background. We are working towards ensuring that all pupils who attend the school are in the best position to go to a top university, have the opportunity to choose to lead a fulfilling life and make a difference in society. Our Pupil Premium Strategy is guided by the philosophy.
